Do not go here unless you plan to endure an extremely unorganized system and staff. The business administration office is very disrespectful and not helpful at all.
Most departments have been wonderful to work with. They are efficient and clean. I have had a time or two in the ER where the staff were sub-par, but I will say that Dr. Glenn and Nurse Rob are our favorites. While this medical center is not as advance as those hospitals in cities around 30 minutes or more away, they are capable of handling acute problems and referring to the bigger hospitals for further care. I am grateful that we have a facility this close. I can get there faster than waiting for any ambulance to show up at my house. It will be a sad day when/if this facility closes.
I went to the ER yesterday for my sons ankle. He was taken to xray within 2min of bringing him back the ER dr said it was sprained. I took a Cd of the xray had it relooked at by 2 radiologists and it was fractured. I understand the whole peliminary report but today I should of been notified that it was indeed fractured! I called the ER and asked why I was never notified today. Jon did apologize but said there was an error he couldn't explain why maybe due to the holiday he said. He did offer to get me a Orthopedic but I got my son one already. This should never of happened! I should of been notified this morning about the fracture. Also my son had to get up on the xray table and he asked a red headed xray tech to help him get on the table. All she did was shrug her shoulders and never helped him! Very poor patient care by this xray tech!
There is one doctor in the ER. Leading to 5+ hour waits. I also overheard the doctor ask a nurse “does that need stitches” and the nurse replied “shouldn’t you know? You’re the doctor”
We are so impressed with the excellent care that our daughter received in the ER tonight. In the past year, we have been to two other hospitals, including a large one in Pittsburgh, and GCMC surpassed them in competency in our experience. Good job! Thank you, Marnee Gormley
